This memorandum of cooperation acknowledging the necessity of cooperation between SPAW and IAC Conventions in order to achieve the objectives of both agreements and being aware that it is necessary to make every effort to avoid sea turtles becoming further endangered or threatened with extinction, by protecting their feeding grounds, migration and reproductive habitats revolves to establish cooperative linkages within the framework general objectives and workplans of the conventions mentioned; to promote the sharing of information to identify opportunities for cooperation between the Contracting Parties, Secretariats, and subsidiary bodies and the importance, as well as recognizes the importance of attending to meetings organized by each organization and calls on periodically examine the implementation of this memorandum.

This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is entered into by and between the Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar, Iran, 1971) (hereinafter “Ramsar”) and the Secretariat pro tempore of the Inter-American Convention for the Protection and Conservation of Sea Turtles (hereinafter IAC), jointly called “The Parties”.
The objective of this MoU (hereinafter “Memorandum”) is to join efforts in the framework of the Ramsar Convention and the IAC to build capacities of the Parties to both Conventions in order to identify and strengthen conservation and wise use of Ramsar Sites by establishing the exchange of information; the construction of joint programs and proects; the constant informing of meetings; and others.
